Take your first step inside The Beauty Spa and you’ll soon discover the difference that makes us a memorable destination. The elegant old world atmosphere, the uplifting AVEDA aromas and the friendly, knowledgeable staff will greet you to create an experience that will nourish and delight.
Many of the guests returning to The Beauty Spa comment on the beauty and sophistication of our building and inquire about its history. It was built in 1869, and owned for 100 years by relatives of Thomas Harrison, the founder of Harrisonburg. The house illustrates pure antebellum Greek Revival and post-war Victorian architecture styles.
Before 1999, when The Beauty Spa moved to this location, a design store was housed here, adding to the special charm with unique and charming trompe l'oeil art work. When you approach the building from the parking lot, you take in what is arguably the best view in Harrisonburg over Court Square, farmlands, and the far Appalachian Mountains. This stately building remains the country manor home in the heart of the city.
